A Positive Approach

I love to read.  I just finished Jon Gordon’s international bestseller, The Energy Bus.   The book reveals ten secrets for approaching life with the kind of thinking that leads to true accomplishment – at work and at home.  Gordon talks about clear visions, positive energy and surrounding yourself with inspiring people.  And I immediately had a thought…

This book is about successful Guiding Eyes dogs!

I could not stop thinking about the parallels between positive living and our amazing dogs and the lifetime of training they receive.  Throughout their upbringing, they learn how to succeed and are provided a clear vision for their future.  When one set of skills are mastered, they are challenged and encouraged to do more.  Once they graduate from our program, they continue to learn and adapt with their new teammates.  They provide independence and confidence to travel and be safe, and in return they are loved and rewarded.

So here are some thoughts for the day:

What if we treated all people the way we treat our Guiding Eyes dogs?

We would offer a lot of praise when we see a job well done, and when someone does something truly exceptional, we could offer a handful of cookies!

What if we all lived our lives following the lead of a Guiding Eyes dog?

We would have a clear vision of what we want to accomplish in our lives.  We’d learn from experts and we’d work hard, responding to positive praise when we did well.  At the end of the day, we would play with friends and know how much we are loved.
