Walkathon 2009

Posted July 10th, 2009

Vikki Iwanicki & Katie Scott – 03/04/2009

Dear Volunteers,

Walkathon pictureRegretfully Katie and I must inform you that Guiding Eyes has decided to cancel this year’s Walkathon. This is not a decision that was made lightly and in no way reflects upon the quality of you – our Volunteers.

You might be wondering what lead us to this decision. The tough economy was certainly a big factor. Additionally, over the past several years both graduate attendance and the amount of money raised by the event have declined, while the cost of running the event has increased. We have to believe that it will be even more difficult to raise money this year.

We know how very disappointed you must be. Many of you have volunteered at this event for several years and have formed close friendships with fellow Volunteers, staff and graduates. Katie and I have certainly looked forward to seeing your familiar faces each year as well as welcoming new Volunteers.

Thank you so very much for your dedication and commitment to Guiding Eyes for the Blind. We’re grateful for your ongoing support during this time and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Sincerely,

Vikki & Katie
