A Challenge Grant to Support our Puppies

 In News & Events

Dear Friends:

Guiding Eyes pups Nalani and Nanette snuggle together.I am continuously inspired by our clients’ stories and realize that it all starts at our Canine Development Center – our Patterson, NY facility where all our puppies are born.

Each year, approximately 500 selectively bred puppies begin a two-year quest to graduate as Guiding Eyes dogs. Our facility – and its ability to support the cutting edge work done at this site – directly impacts the future successes of the organization and those we serve.

We are so close to achieving our $8 million Canine Development Center’s Campaign goal, allowing us to make essential improvements to the facility and to continue providing Guiding Eyes dogs for our long list of applicants seeking a brighter future.

Recently I had the opportunity to meet members of the Starr Foundation when they visited the Canine Development Center, and was thrilled to learn they presented a significant challenge to help us finish our campaign.  Thanks to the Starr Foundation’s gift of $250,000 as a challenge opportunity to help raise an additional $250,000 – a dollar-for-dollar match – the possibility of reaching the campaign goal for this essential renovation is close at hand.

“The Starr Foundation is proud to support this new building and the future of Guiding Eyes for the Blind and hopes that our leadership gift will inspire others to join to complete this project,” remarked Florence Davis, President of the Starr Foundation.

As Chair of the Board of Directors, I have made my pledge of support along with my fellow board members. Please join us today by making a generous gift that will allow our puppies an outstanding start for their journeys as Guiding Eyes dogs.
