Guiding Eyes regional manager Maria Dunne with pet corgi, ScoutPosition: Regional Manager, Puppy Program

1) Favorite color, food and TV show:
Purple, Salads with a variety of toppings, The Big Bang Theory – hilarious!

2) Years at Guiding Eyes:
In August, I’ll be at Guiding Eyes for 8 years. I’ve been a Regional Manager for 5 of them.

3) What made you want to open a Puppy Raising region in Ulster County?
I grew up in Marlboro, NY and had never heard of Guiding Eyes until I saw a job listing during the summer of 2008. I came for my interview and was hooked! Through the new region, I want to help spread the word about Guiding Eyes and encourage people who live in Ulster County to volunteer for such a worthwhile cause.

 4) What’s the best part of working at Guiding Eyes?
I’ve wanted to work with dogs since high school when I worked at a vet’s office, but I had no idea how much passion I would find in working for such a wonderful organization! Our graduates, staff, and especially our puppy raisers, who give so much of themselves to provide such a priceless gift, are truly an inspiration to me every day.  Plus, it’s hard to have a bad day when you’ve got a puppy by your side!

5) What’s your favorite inspirational quote?
I have SO many because I love quotes and song lyrics.  But most simply put… “Life is a journey, not a destination.”
