Macy's store manager Gerard Guichard, Guiding Eyes director of marketing Michelle Brier and former NY Knicks player John Starks with Guiding Eyes dog HamlinMacy’s American Icon campaign is a celebration of the “people, places and things we love.”  On Saturday, Guiding Eyes was honored by Macy’s of White Plains in a ceremony that included the White Plains police and fire departments and White Plains Public Library.  Former NY Knicks player John Starks was also present to congratulate recipients and to sign autographs for shoppers.

Guiding Eyes dog Hamlin, currently in training for our special needs program, was on hand to accept a plaque that reads, “presented to Guiding Eyes for the Blind for your tireless efforts, service and unwavering dedication to the people of the world.”

Our guide dogs in training are regular visitors to the Macy’s stores in White Plains and Jefferson Valley.  The stores offer our dogs practice with escalators, shiny floors and interesting scents.  We are grateful for Macy’s support of our mission, and we were thrilled to be recognized as an American Icon.  Thank you!
