JPMorgan Chase and Guiding Eyes for the Blind partner for a three-day interactive disability awareness event

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is proud to have been selected as part of a three-day interactive lobby exhibit event hosted by JPMorgan Chase – “One Firm, Many Voices: Accessibility Matters” – to celebrate the company’s commitment to people with disabilities. The firm’s longstanding dedication to creating a diverse and inclusive environment drives this initiative which provided employees with the opportunity to learn more about Guiding Eyes and its mission. The event was a joint effort between the Office of Non Profit Engagement, the ADA Program Office, Access Ability BRG and the eCAT (electronic Communications Accessibility) team. It was a nod, as well, to the 25th anniversary of the ADA.

The bustling lobby at 270 Park Avenue was the perfect spot for Guiding Eyes to convey, first-hand, the profound and immediate difference guide dogs make in the lives of people who are blind. Employees had the opportunity to work with Guiding Eyes professional training team to go under blindfold and navigate an obstacle course with Guiding Eyes dogs-in-training, ask questions, and interact with graduates.

The event featured a fireside chat hosted by Guiding Eyes Board Members Matt Zames and John Donnelly, senior executives at JPMorgan Chase. John began by describing the unique partnership between Guiding Eyes and the firm, and also shared his own connection to the organization, saying, “Guiding Eyes has been part of my extended family for over 20 years. I love the dedicated, talented staff that works tirelessly to improve the lives of our students. Our students, the recipients of these incredibly well-trained dogs, inspire us all every day to want to do more to help the visually impaired and autistic children. And of course, I love our dogs, who are such wonderful and caring companions.”

Nearly 250 JPMorgan Chase employees were in attendance!

The lobby exhibit featured a cameo by Wrangler and visit by Guiding Eyes graduate Abbey Lanier, who was on-hand to discuss her own experience as a seasoned New Yorker tackling all of life’s adventures with her Guiding Eyes dog Alexa by her side.

We are honored that JPMorgan Chase is helping their employees’ donations to go even further; matching the gift of every dollar with $2—a very impressive return on charitable investment for a truly worthy cause.
