United Airlines Honors Sharon Heffernan

News from United Airlines Hemisphere!
Every year, the United Airlines Foundation distributes thousands of dollars in grants to nonprofit organizations served by United Airlines employees who participate in volunteer activities. Hundreds of grants have been awarded since 1996, honoring employees for their commitment to community service and their volunteer work with 501(c)(3) organizations and international charitable groups. These dedicated volunteers represent the true spirit of giving and United’s commitment to community service. Last year’s exemplary employees were recently recognized at an awards luncheon in Chicago hosted by United Chairman, President, and CEO Glenn Tilton. Our own Sharon Heffernan, Guiding Eyes puppy raiser, was among the honorees and was profiled in Hemispheres – United’s in-flight magazine that reaches more than 2 million people every month. Out of 300 submissions, Sharon’s was recognized, along with 46 other employees, for her community service efforts. United individual volunteer grants recognize employees for their commitments to community service and are awarded to organizations in the name of the employee volunteer. United Airlines generously donated $1,000 to Guiding Eyes in Sharon’s name. United also photographed Sharon at the Manchester, New Hampshire airport where she works for Hemispheres. Pictured above with Sharon is Windy (4W306), Linden (2L307), a puppy in training in the New Hampshire Puppy Raising Region, and Wheeler (15X04) who is a recently retired Guiding Eyes stud.
Sharon raised Ryker (2R305), one of Wheeler’s offspring and she is currently raising her fourth Guiding Eyes puppy, Kody (12X07), one of Ryker’s puppies. Windy is scheduled to go for her IFT in May, and has been co-raised by Sharon and Pat Graham.
Sharon says about raising puppies for Guiding Eyes, “I love this program so much and by far, it is the best thing I’ve ever done in my life!”
