We’re excited to share that Guiding Eyes was recently featured on ABC News Live Weekend in a segment celebrating National Puppy Day. Long-time puppy raiser and current Guiding Eyes employee, Alissa Phillips, appeared on the program with Quartz, an adorable 3‑month‑old, black and tan German Shepherd puppy.
Alissa spoke passionately about the pride she feels upon seeing a pup she has raised partnered with a person with visual loss. She described not only the tremendous impact this adorable puppy could have on someone else’s life, but also reflected on how profoundly each of the dogs she has raised has changed her own. Alissa began volunteering in college, and Quartz is the ninth puppy she has raised for the organization. With her excellent behavior and growing fascination with Alissa’s microphone, Quartz quickly won over host Whit Johnson and viewers alike as she sat in her puppy raiser’s lap.
We proudly thank Alissa and Quartz for representing our mission with such heartfelt dedication. Please enjoy their ABC News appearance linked from the photo above. (Linked image opens in a new tab.)
