Dear Guiding Eyes Graduates,
Are you interested in becoming more involved in the Guiding Eyes community? Would you like to volunteer your time to assist fellow graduates through their guide dog journey? Are you passionate about supporting Guiding Eyes for the Blind and hoping to engage in projects which positively impact the organization’s overall success and growth?
If so, you are in luck. We are now accepting applications for the Graduate Council! For those who have been a part of the community for a long time and are accustomed to seeing the launch of the application period in January, we appreciate your patience. We are in the midst of positive momentum as an organization and are working to improve communications, focus on strategic goals, and enhance community engagement. The Graduate Council plays a valuable role in representing the needs of our graduates, and in turn, advising on Guiding Eyes’ mission-driven projects. We look forward to strengthening that relationship.
The Guiding Eyes Graduate Council is comprised of members with diverse personal and professional backgrounds and guide dog experience. Graduate Council members assist with a wide range of tasks as requested by Guiding Eyes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting post-graduation check-in calls with graduates who recently completed residential or home training programs, organizing quarterly calls for the community on a variety of topics, participating in monthly Council meetings to determine priorities and discuss special projects as directed, and offering constructive feedback to enhance the quality of the Guiding Eyes experience.
If you are interested in receiving an application for the Guiding Eyes Graduate Council or have any questions about what your responsibilities would entail, please email Melissa Carney, Community Outreach and Graduate Support Manager, at mcarney@guidingeyes.org.
The submission deadline is Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:59 PM Eastern and we anticipate new members will begin their terms in June.
Thank you for considering the opportunity to serve Guiding Eyes for the Blind in this capacity. We look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Melissa Carney
