Excellence in Nursing at Guiding Eyes

Guiding Eyes released dog Max with owner Reha SokolowGuiding Eyes nurse Marianne Coiro was recognized on Tuesday evening at Hudson Valley Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing gala.

From HV magazine:

Nurses – they’re the often unsung heroes and heroines of healthcare.  These individuals juggle hectic schedules, cope with extraordinary pressure and serve round-the-clock as the bedside eyes and ears for doctors.

We at Hudson Valley are proud to honor 75 members of the nursing profession as the recipients of the 2014 annual Excellence in Nursing Awards.  As part of 2014 National Nurses Week, the magazine pays tribute to these regional winners on Tuesday, May 6 at a reception at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie.  Award winners were nominated by their supervisors at hospitals and other healthcare facilities, and the top 20 – profiled in this issue – were chosen by a committee of medical professionals and editors.  We extend our profound thanks and heartfelt congratulations to all the nurses who were nominated.

And an excerpt from her nomination:

Marianne spends extensive time communicating with our incoming students’ at-home practitioners so she can best prepare our staff prior to their arrivals. She checks in with everyone as they arrive on our Yorktown campus, making them feel comfortable as they settle into the new environment. She stays connected throughout their time here, and is well known and loved for her hands-on approach to their care and her overall kindness and warmth.

Congratulations Marianne – we are proud to have you on our team!
