Congratulations Kathy Zubrycki!

VP of Training Programs Kathy ZubryckiOn Monday, Oct 27, the New York chapter of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired presented Guiding Eyes VP of Training Programs Kathy Zubrycki with its Meritorious Achievment.  The award is given to someone whose work has had an exceptional impact on the blind community.

As she accepted the award, Kathy talked about how she grew up in Morristown, NJ, and often observed Seeing Eye dogs working on the city’s streets.  She once approached the legendary Morris Frank about the prospect of becoming a guide dog instructor, and his response was cryptic, suggesting that a woman would be no “gosh darn good” at it.  Kathy ultimately applied to work at The Seeing Eye and used Mr. Frank as a reference; he was the only person she’d actually met in the field.

We’re extremely proud to have had Kathy Zubrycki on the Guiding Eyes team for over 20 years.   Congratulations Kathy!
