The summer seemed extra long this year, and also feels like no time has passed at all. School has started, routines are shifting, and we are looking forward to cooler weather for humans and dogs alike.
With cooler weather comes more opportunities to get out and enjoy festivals, fairs, and other events. These outings can be a lot of fun, but they can also bring crowds, loud noise, distractions, and unfamiliar environments. Be sure to read our article on preparing yourself and your guide for these types of events, with tips and things to keep in mind before you go.
Over the past couple of years, we have started offering seminars for prospective applicants. These seminars give future students a chance to learn more about guide dog travel and help prepare them for what working with a guide may look like. Our Learning & Development manager shares a little bit more in this edition.
We are also heading into a busy travel season. If flying is in your plans this fall or during the holidays, you will find a helpful reminder of some of the things to consider when traveling with your guide.
We hope you enjoy this edition of Embark and wish you and your guide a wonderful season of travel, fun, and new adventures.
