National Dog Day was August 26th and September is National Guide Dog Month, so what better way to celebrate than to spread the word about our mission, our beloved Guiding Eyes pups, and amazing life-changing dogs? On Tuesday, August 26th, National Dog Day, Guiding Eyes for the Blind was a guest of CBS Mornings, broadcast live from their studio in New York City’s West Side.
In the segment, Guiding Eyes graduate and Director of Donor Relations, Rebekah Cross, with guide Kokomo, and Guiding Eyes graduate Marin Baumer, with guide Kegan, discussed how having a guide dog has changed their lives, as well as the lives of so many other individuals with vision loss, in search of greater independence and freedom.
There is nothing quite like the joy that cuddly, playful puppies can bring, but the three little sweeties joining them in the studio brought so much more! They have been named after CBS Mornings hosts, Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson. Puppy Gayle is an adorable female black Lab, and Tony, a lovable male black Lab, while Nate is a sweet male black Lab. Having passed their puppy tests, these three are ready to meet their puppy raisers and take the beginning steps towards careers as guide dogs. Their journeys begin with big aspirations and big names, and we’re all rooting for them. Stay tuned!
