Our Mission

Lauen and Austin pass safely through a crosswalk

Guiding Eyes for the Blind provides guide dogs to people with vision loss. We are passionate about connecting exceptional dogs with individuals for greater independence.

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is a dynamic place where experience and innovation combine to provide the best guide dogs and instruction in the world. The expertise of Guiding Eyes’ caring and professional staff and our individualized programs have led to the pairing of over 10,000 guide dog teams. Our commitment to addressing the individual needs of our students through personalized instruction is a critical element of our reputation as a premier guide dog school.

The Training School is a safe and inviting campus, where those who are blind or with vision loss find unlimited support from a staff that is committed to their success. A cherished sense of community and history provides students with a positive learning environment. For students unable to travel to our campus, exemplary training is conducted in the home environment, and includes the same extraordinary support and follow-up.

Our donors, of gifts large or small, are critical to fulfilling our mission. The expense of breeding, raising, training and preparing each Guiding Eyes team continues to increase, yet we remain steadfast in our commitment to provide our services at no charge to the individuals that put their trust in us.

Watch this short and informative video, “Our Mission”, to learn more about our commitment to our mission and the ways so many dedicated volunteers contribute to and support that mission. Visit Who We Are to learn more about us, and Your Impact which includes this, plus moving testimonial videos from two of our graduates.
