August is Make a Will Month, and it’s a perfect time to consider the future – not just for yourself, but for the causes you care about. At Guiding Eyes for the Blind, we are dedicated to providing exceptional guide dogs and training for individuals with vision loss. As you plan for your future, we invite you to explore how a planned gift can make a lasting impact on our mission.

Why Make a Will?

Creating a will ensures that your wishes are respected, and your assets are distributed according to your desires. It’s a crucial step in financial planning that can also provide peace of mind for you and your loved ones. Additionally, making a will gives you the opportunity to support causes you care about, like Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Your support makes a tremendous difference in the lives of those we serve. As you take steps to secure your legacy, we are grateful for your consideration of Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Together, we can continue to guide individuals toward independence and a brighter future.

Tips for Making a Will:

  1. Start with a List: Begin by listing your assets, including real estate, investments, personal belongings, and any other valuables. Consider any debts or liabilities that should be addressed as well.
  2. Choose Beneficiaries: Decide who will inherit your assets. This could be family, friends, or charitable organizations such as Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
  3. Appoint an Executor: Select someone you trust to carry out the instructions in your will. This person will handle the distribution of your estate according to your wishes.
  4. Consider Specific Bequests: You can designate a specific amount or percentage of your estate to Guiding Eyes for the Blind. This could be a meaningful way to contribute to our mission.
  5. Consult a Professional: Working with an estate planning attorney ensures that your will is legally sound and reflects your intentions accurately.
