Meet puppies Betty, Gingee and Dermot! On August 17th, they had a private flight to Sanford, Florida from White Plains, New York to meet their new Puppy Raisers, students at University of Central Florida. They will begin the important work of raising, socializing, and preparing these pups for the next stage of their journey with Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
The University of Central Florida is the latest college or university to embrace Guiding Eyes Puppy Raising, expanding opportunities for students and staff to participate in this meaningful volunteer experience on campus.
Over the next year and a half, these dedicated student volunteers will raise and socialize these adorable puppies, introducing them to a variety of people, places, and environments. Their goal is to give each puppy the foundation they need to become a successful guide dog who will one day help provide greater independence and confidence to a person who is blind or with vision loss.
Guiding Eyes gratefully welcomes students Nathalie, Talor, Hayden, and Ashley to our Remote Puppy Raising Region and a special thank you goes out to Pilots to the Rescue for transporting these pups safely to Florida!

Many colleges and universities participate in Guiding Eyes Puppy Raising, with puppy raisers and sitters currently active on campuses throughout the U.S. The number of Guiding Eyes Puppy Raising Clubs continues to grow as more institutions of higher education explore opportunities to bring the program to their campuses.
We are grateful to these schools for supporting student and staff involvement, encouraging volunteerism, and helping make a profound difference in the lives of people with vision loss by contributing to the development of exceptional guide dogs.
